Join the DARE UK Public Advisory Group

DARE UK (Data and Analytics Research Environments UK) is inviting members of the public to join its Public Advisory Group to collaborate and provide advice on programme activities.

DARE UK is dedicated to designing and delivering a national network of secure data infrastructures, facilitating faster and more efficient access to sensitive data for research for the public good. Their Public Advisory Group was established to:

  • Oversee DARE UK’s public involvement and engagement activities and ensure they align with their Public Involvement and Engagement Strategy
  • Advise on all aspects of the DARE UK programme from a public viewpoint, including providing input into new and ongoing public involvement and engagement work

Due to their expanding programme of work, they are looking to grow the Public Advisory Group and include public contributors with experiences and viewpoints currently underrepresented in their work.

DARE UK are looking for people who are:

  • Interested in the use of data for research in the public interest
  • Motivated to contribute unique ideas and opinions in discussions
  • Willing to learn all about sensitive data and how it can benefit society

To ensure the team has diverse perspectives across the Public Advisory Group, they are particularly interested in expressions of interest from people who have never been involved in data research.

Expected commitment from participants:

  • The DARE UK Public Advisory Group’s meetings will be held four times a year for 1 hour and 30 minutes. You may need about 1 hour before a meeting to read through any relevant papers. Meetings will be held online via Microsoft Teams.
  • Between meetings, you may also have opportunities to get involved in other pieces of work, meetings, and events relevant to your role with the Public Advisory Group. These are optional, and your involvement will be agreed upon in advance.
  • This role will last until the end of Phase 2 of DARE UK’s programme of work (March 2027).

DARE UK will support you in your role by providing:

  • An induction session before joining your first meeting
  • Ongoing support from the DARE UK programme staff
  • A key contact within DARE UK who will provide you with relevant information and will be available to answer any questions
  • Ad-hoc training and support as identified by individual Public Advisory Group members
  • Honoraria or vouchers are provided to Public Advisory Group members in recognition of their time and contributions to DARE UK. Payments are made according to the Health Data Research UK Honoraria and Expenses Policy
