Exploring Emotional and Relational Experiences of Psychosis – A Research Interview Study

A trainee counselling psychologist from University of the West of England is inviting participants to take part in a doctoral research study exploring the emotional and relational experiences of people who have lived through psychosis. The project aims to better understand how people make sense of their experiences and relationships before, during, and after psychosis. The study hopes to contribute to a more humane and person-centered understanding of mental health experiences. This project has received ethical approval and is part of a doctoral training programme in Counselling Psychology.

The researcher is looking to speak with:

  • Adults (18+) who have experienced psychosis at some point in their lives
  • People who do not need a formal diagnosis to take part
  • Individuals who feel comfortable speaking about their experiences in a confidential interview

Expected commitment from participants:

  • A one-off confidential interview lasting approximately 60–90 minutes
  • The interview can be conducted either in person (Bristol area) or online (via Zoom) depending on your preference
  • Participants can choose a time and setting that works best for them

Closing date: there is no formal closing date, but early contact is encouraged as places are limited.

The researcher is committed to making participation accessible and inclusive. The following supports are available:

  • Interviews can take place online or in person, with flexibility around time and location
  • Breaks can be taken during the interview
