Over the last decade, local areas have been routinely conducting Domestic Homicide Reviews and Safeguarding Adults Reviews into cases of domestic violence, abuse or neglect, particularly in cases where the victim has been in vulnerable circumstance. While there have been several themed reviews of these reviews, there has not yet been a thematic review focussing on cases where the victim has had an additional vulnerability – for example, a disability or a significant mental health issue. This report fills in that gap, with the aim of identifying recurring themes in the recommendations made in these reviews and informing domestic abuse and adult social care services of where additional risks may need to be considered in order to protect those victims of domestic abuse with additional vulnerabilities.
