Disability rights organisation Difference is an organisation that is led by disabled people. Where things need doing, they will be done by disabled people, and when something needs saying, it will be said by disabled people. We are not super crips and nor are we sad crips. Our impairments are an important part of who we are, and need to be included rather than overlooked or overcome. We are ordinary disabled people and this is our strength. We add character and diversity to community life. We need to address the barriers that make life a very unequal experience for disabled people, both in terms of access to opportunities and in terms of attitudes. We need to shift public discourse on disability from being seen as a care issue to being seen as a rights issue.
