Action on Disability is a West London Disabled People’s Organisation (DPO) led by disabled people, for disabled people. We work to ensure that disabled people have independence, choice and control over their own lives. We began life in 1979 as Hammersmith and Fulham Action on Disability (HAFAD). HAFAD was started by disabled residents campaigning for access to swimming pools and public toilets. Our services include: • Advocacy – supporting people to be heard and secure their rights, • Youth Services – a vibrant service supporting young people towards independence. • Employment – supported internships and job coaching, • Welfare Benefits Advice – from form filling to tribunal support • Peer Support – unlocking disabled people’s expertise to support one another. • Volunteering – providing work experience for disabled people. We represent the views and needs of disabled people to local and regional decision makers.
