Disabled people, Older people, People with learning difficulties or disabilities, People with long-term health conditions
We are a group of residents with experience of social care who, with professional support, have made an in-depth study of the Care Act. We believe the council - as all councils - are in breach of the obligations placed upon them by the Care Act. We believe the provisions of the Act, if enacted as they should, would deliver Independent Living. However, councils are choosing instead to work in traditional resource led and oppressive ways that deny the existence of there ever being a funding gap. We are committed to ensuring social care plays its part in making the vision of Independent Living as defined by the United Nations a reality for every older and disabled person in need of care and support.
